The E450, part of the all-new 2024 generation, remains the preferred mid-size sedan within Mercedes' lineup. Referred to as the W214 for enthusiasts, it has expanded in size compared to its predecessor, the W213, while maintaining a similar appearance. The new model is slightly longer, wider, and taller, featuring a revamped interior reminiscent of the EQ range of electric vehicles. Thankfully, the E450 retains its smooth turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, delivering 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration to 60 miles per hour is now half a second faster than before, although performance remains a secondary focus.

The 2024 E-Class introduces a new level of ergonomics by becoming the first non-EQ Benz model to showcase three displays on its dashboard: a 12.3-inch gauge cluster, a 14.4-inch central display, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. Although the gauge cluster and central display come as standard features, the third display is exclusively available as part of the $1,500 / Qar 5461 MBUX Superscreen package. The dashboard is adorned with a sleek brushed metal vent design that stretches the entire length, accentuating the expansive screens. These screens seamlessly blend with the HVAC vents and are complemented by discreet ambient lights. Additionally, above and below the dashboard, there are even more vibrant (and somewhat extravagant) LED lights that illuminate the cabin during nighttime. Whether you adore or despise this feature depends on your personal preference towards screens. Moreover, if it pleases you, there is also the option to adjust the brightness of the ambient lights in three distinct zones, allowing you to optimize your visual comfort.
In the past, the large infotainment display used to be the most debated aspect of the cabin. However, similar to an experienced middle school teacher, it has become an accepted part of the experience. It may dominate the interior, but the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system has made it more user-friendly. With an abundance of shortcuts, reduced annoying pop-ups, and improved overall usability compared to its initial touch-centric iterations.
The touch-sensitive steering wheel buttons now feel less intrusive due to improved calibration and haptic feedback. However, they are not a complete substitute for physical buttons, as certain essential adjustments such as audio equalizers, brightness, and seek/track controls are inconveniently located within menus on the screen.

Some of the gimmicks are truly amusing. The ambient lighting in the E450 can respond to music, transforming the already nightclub-esque atmosphere into a full-blown rave. The top-notch Burmester stereo system features "4D" sound, with specialized speakers in the front seats providing a bass-heavy massage. Additionally, the gauge cluster can appear three-dimensional thanks to a unique screen that mimics the effect of the outdated blue and red 3D glasses.
Despite the various attention-grabbing features and the abundance of screens reminiscent of a sports bar, the car undeniably comprehends its purpose. It is not focused on performance or velocity, and it certainly does not conform to the expectations of being a versatile sports sedan that every enthusiast anticipates. Rather, it embodies the essence of a genuine luxury sedan.

If challenged, the E450 will navigate a corner with skill. However, it feels inappropriate to subject the vehicle to such demands. Its true joy lies in cruising, effortlessly transporting you and your passengers in absolute comfort. All four seats provide comfort, although they are not excessively soft. They offer a firmness and structure that prioritize long-term support over plushness. As someone with a height of 5'9". The seating arrangement to be quite accommodating with ample space. Additionally, the visibility from inside the vehicle is exceptional.
It was astonishing how even at high speeds, one could speak softly to fellow passengers without the E450 revealing any signs of wind seepage on the freeway. The presence of nearby semi-trucks was astonishingly muted. The outside world seemed to vanish completely. Accompanied by the superbly clear, vibrant, and melodiously warm Burmester sound system playing at a moderate volume, a new realm of your own making replaces reality. It is truly delightful.

When paired with the optional air suspension, the vehicle effortlessly glides along, effortlessly erasing the passage of time during lengthy journeys. The driving experience is made effortless with its responsive yet subtly muted reactions to light inputs. Mercedes has successfully ensured that driving the E450 is far from being a tedious task.
This vehicle is not designed for enthusiasts, at least not until an AMG version is released. It is more suited for professionals like dentists or doctors in your neighborhood.
